Tybee Island Short Term Vacation Rental Moratorium Update

MONDAY at 6:30 PM, the Tybee Island Planning Commission will meet to discuss the proposed changes to the short-term vacation rental (STVR) ordinance. If you have not yet read the ordinance, please take a few minutes to read it by clicking here.

We encourage you to make your voice heard on this proposed change either in person at the meeting on July 18th at 6:30 PM in City Council Chambers in the Burke Day Public Safety Building located at 78 Van Horn Ave Tybee Island, GA 31328,  or via email to members of the Planning Commission. We need SPEAKERS. Please let me know if you would be willing to speak on this subject. 

What Will Be Discussed:

• Abandonment- Occurs after no tax returns and "non-use" of 3-6 months. What if owners only plan time live there part-time? 

• Parking Requirements- Every situation is unique on Tybee.

• Unidentified Consequences- Discouraging part-time residents

• Transferability upon sale is NOT guaranteed.

• NO New Certificates- flat out BAN of STVRs. Those with certificates would be grandfathered in.

I have received many calls, texts, and emails about the moratorium since it all began, and I hope I can continue to bring clarity to such an overwhelming process. As a Tybee resident, property owner and Realtor of 15+ years involved in property management, individual property rights are always a priority. Whether you care about private property rights, love Tybee Island, buy or sell real estate, own property on Tybee, or are considering it- this issue affects YOU! Please speak up and let the City Council hear from you.
